Creativity

What exactly is creativity and how does it work?

Creativity is the ability to turn new and imaginative ideas into reality. Creativity is characterized by the ability to perceive the world in new ways, to find hidden patterns, to make connections between seemingly unrelated phenomena, and to generate solutions. Creativity involves two processes: thinking, then producing.

A meaningful quote

"CREATIVITY IS INTELLIGENCE HAVING FUN!" - ALBERT EINSTEIN

Being creative doesn’t necessarily mean you are artistically inclined. It means that your brain is designed to help you solve problems, think of new ideas and have moments of enlightenment. This is the everyday creativity that helps you solve problems, or brainstorm new ideas.

Scientists are now starting to understand the brain function when you generate a new idea. It involves your frontal lobes and a pattern of neural activity called “alpha oscillations”. It also shares some parallels with the type of brain processing which happens when you use your imagination, hence the link to artistic creativity.

Insight is your ability to solve a problem or think of an idea when you are least expecting it, or when you aren’t even thinking about it, but you are thinking about it, well at least your brain is. It has been busy working on the problem subconsciously whilst you are getting on with other tasks. When it comes up with the solution, it pushes it through to your conscious mind. This moment of enlightenment shows up in your brain as an explosion of neural activity (called gamma waves) in your temporal lobes. Ever heard of toilet or shower thoughts?

Science shows us that your level of creativity and your mood are linked. We have all heard how being positive. It is good for your health. It is good for your social relationships. It is also good for your creativity and happiness is the best emotion for creative thinking.

Positive energy creates new and effective ideas!
